What to Expect From the Assessment Process
STEP 1
FREE 20-MINUTE CONSULTATION
We begin with a 20-minute phone consultation to learn more about your child and explore how we may be able to support you.
STEP 2
PRE-ASSESSMENT PREPARATION
Before booking the assessment, you'll be asked to complete questionnaires and gather relevant documents, such as report cards.
STEP 3
INTAKE & INTERVIEWS
We spend time getting to know your child in depth. We may also request information from caregivers or other important people in your child's life.
STEP 4
ONE-ON-ONE ASSESSMENT
Assessment sessions typically take place over two or three appointments. Activities are selected based on the specific questions being explored.
STEP 5
FEEDBACK & REPORT
Once the assessment is complete, you'll meet with us to discuss the findings.
You'll receive a detailed written report with practical recommendations for next steps.
For child clients, Savi Centre also provides a child-friendly letter or story to help explain their results in a positive and age-appropriate way.
What Is a Psychological Assessment?
A psychological assessment is a structured process used to better understand how a person thinks, learns, processes information, and experiences emotional, behavioural, and social challenges. For children and teens, the assessment may explore questions related to ADHD and autism, while also considering emotional wellbeing, behaviour, social experiences, strengths, and vulnerabilities. Assessment activities are selected based on the specific questions being explored.
